Here's another little PDQ look at the way we were. This interview with Steve-O, printed in Big Brother skateboard magazine, is almost 13 years old now (if you're the anal carbon-dating type, it was conducted by Jeff Tremaine somewhere around the month of January or February 1999). The third Big Brother video, boob, was still in the raw formative stages, and our road trip to Florida was meant to be segment in and of itself for said video. Gangsta-ass, Ree-ock! Anyway, all Tourette's aside, for many of us this was the first time we met Steve-O in the flesh, including Tremaine, and while the raw zygote of jackass may have been nesting in his and Johnny Knoxville's shared womb it did not yet formally include the antics of Steve-O—that would only develop more in the months to follow this interview [click on the image to view a legible pop-up]. What makes this most interesting though, is, of course, the knowledge of everything to transpire since. Steve-O went from a life of wallowing in obscurity to ridiculous worldwide fame ... the transformative "all-spark" being the mere miraculous chugging of a goldfish in a parking lot behind a random store. America, what a country! But the rest is, as the staid cliché goes, history, the gritty whole of which can be found printed and bound in Professional Idiot: A Memoir. Buy it here!
