Despite all famously L.A. appearances this bookshelf did not end up on Jeff Tremaine by the fault of seismic activity but rather the presence of Spike Jonze. Spike, similar to Pig-Pen from The Peanuts, has a cloud of sorts that follows him about wherever he goes, but instead of dust and other airborne particulate matter it's a general epicenter of destruction. I mean, it's almost a metaphysical zen-ish question, like, if something doesn't break when Spike is around, was he ever really there? The office is, overall, a relatively harmless place for Spike to be (unless you happen to be Tremaine), but the very, very, very last scenario you want to let happen is for him to get a hold of the keys to your rental car—let's just say there was a bit of real life "inspiration" put to good use in the Beastie Boys "Sabotage" music video—and that's all I will say about that.
